Bruins Game 12 Recap: “Growing Pains” was my favorite 80’s sitcom that I never actually watched.

Can we really use the “growing pains” line? This team has made a habit of tossing out young talent in exchange for “grit” and crummy older players for a while now, can you really “grow” with things like that?

No. Just let me stop you there. The answer is “no.”

The Bruins did no growing tonight, dropping their first road game of the year to the Capitals in DC. They did manage a single goal against Braden Holtby though, which is sort-of good? Sure they got outplayed and outscored, but a goal? That’s better than the zero goals they’ve scored against him in the last few tries.

This whole thing feels familiar, “growing pains” as we start to head deeper into a season characterized by more than a little doubt before it even began. It’s not that the Bruins are in a transition, as much as it appears that the people in charge have no business being there. Gone is the young talent we were expected to “transition” to, in it’s place is an aging core and a bunch of random dudes from around the league. Not good. Can’t rely on Tuukka to “steal one” every time the Bruins need a win, can’t blame him every time that doesn’t happen, either. Hockey!

The next B’s game is on Saturday against the Habs…….. in Montreal. Ooh boy.
