Red Sox Game 58 Recap: You’re not gonna cry, now, are you?

Highest WPA: Xander Bogaerts, .204 (2-4, HBP, 2B, HR, RBI, 2 R)
Lowest WPA: Andrew Miller, -.229 (.2 IP, H, 2 K; allowed two inherited runners to score)

Jake Peavy might feel like crying; what looked like it was going to be a nice little outing for him winds up looking much uglier, thanks to Andrew Miller’s inability to stop inherited runners from scoring.

Xander Bogaerts might feel like crying; after being forced to move back to third base because of Will Middlebrooks being garbage, he’s now started hitting the cover off the ball, but nobody notices because he plays for a very bad team. He should be at or near the top of the balloting for starting shortstop spot in the All-Star Game; instead, he isn’t even in the top five.

But am I gonna cry? No. There’s no point. Crying about the Red Sox’ terrible winter and awful injury luck won’t change either of them. Neither will crying about Brandon Workman and Rubby de la Rosa getting starts change the fact that the Sox are going to follow their seven-game winning streak with a four (or more)-game losing streak. Game three of the slide is tomorrow. Watch it, won’t you?
