Red Sox Game 39 Recap: Who’s your Papi?

Highest WPA: David Ortiz, .209 (3-5, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 3 R)
Lowest WPA: AJ Pierzynski, -.033 (1-5, 2 RBI, 2 LOB)

It’s almost a shame that the Twins are bad, and have been bad for roughly forever. It would be nice for David Ortiz to turn into an unstoppable murder beast against an otherwise terrifying opponent, you know? Then again, last night’s “We have to save the CLOSER even if it means never getting to the time when we’re saving the CLOSER for” loss was so predictable that I actually predicted it, so maybe I should just be happy about what we have instead of wishing that we had something better.

Anyone who tries to apply that statement to anything bigger than David Ortiz hitting well against the Twins will be shot.

In other news, Felix Doubront had his best start of the year. Normally I’d have something snarky to say about the Twins here, but they’ve actually been a good, patient offense for the first almost-a-quarter of the season, so I’ll shut up. And tomorrow we get to face the rotting carcass of Phil Hughes. Things are looking up!
