Red Sox Game 36 Recap: Oh, right, we have an ace too.

Highest WPA: Jon Lester, .197 (7 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 8 K, 3 BB)
Lowest WPA: Xander Bogaerts, -.052 (0-5, 2 K, 2 LOB)

And he’s also very good! He’s not, like, Yu Darvish, but very few people are. Fortunately Martin Perez is not very good, and the Red Sox’ offense, while it may not be the most incredible force the world has ever seen, is still more than capable of making not-very-good pitchers have very bad nights.

Just about all of the damage in this one came from the top of the order, as Dustin Pedroia, Shane Victorino and David Ortiz combined for 7 of the Sox’ 11 hits. Pretty much nobody else did anything, although Jackie Bradley did have a couple of hits, which is nice. As for Lester: Ho-hum. Seven innings, three runs, he’s great, pay the man. Not gonna happen, I know, but I have to say it: Pay. The. Man. Or just start building the “JON LESTER ISN’T PITCHING HERE NEXT YEAR” sign, I guess.
