Red Sox Game 35 Recap: YUUUUUUUU!!!

Highest WPA: Edward Mujica / Craig Breslow, .000 (Mujica: IP, K; Breslow: IP, H, K)
Lowest WPA: Clay Buccholz, -.205 (4.1 IP, 10 H, 6 ER, 3 K, 2 BB)

I don’t know if you guys are aware of this, but Yu Darvish is really good. That’s true whether or not you believe that a routine pop-up dropping to the ground untouched should go as a hit, and whether or not you think it’s hilarious that the stinkiest play of the night was committed by a man named Odor.

Getting no-hit sucks. I imagine. I will say, though, that coming within an out of getting no-hit sucks pretty hard. It’s just one game, but it doesn’t do anything to quell the nagging little voices whispering that this offense still isn’t good enough to make up for nights where Buchholz doesn’t have his A-game, or Peavy gets hit around, or Doubront is Doubront. On the other hand, it is just one game. Presumably, tomorrow, they’ll get more than just one hit.
