Red Sox Game 30 Recap: That was nice!

Highest WPA: Clay Buchholz, .270 (6.1 IP, 3 H, ER, 5 K, 3 BB)
Lowest WPA: David Ortiz, -.130 (1-5, 2 K, 6 LOB)

For a hardcore pessimist like myself, writing a recap after a comfortable, convincing win is tough. Tonight was just one of those nights where everybody (except Will Middlebrooks, who is the worst) did their job, the game felt well in hand even though it was just 2-1, and then the big hit with men on base finally came and it turned into a blowout.

The closest thing to a complaint, I guess, is that Don Orsillo’s silly forced catchphrase for a Dustin Pedroia home run isn’t “LASER SHOW!” I mean, look at this thing of beauty:

I don’t see anyone making GIFs of Pedroia homers with the moon on them. Or Luna Vachon. Get your act together, announcer boy.

Jon Lester starts tomorrow, and the offense gets to face Tommy Milone outside of Oakland. I expect good things to happen, but I won’t be around to hear them; I’ve got baseball of my own to take care of, so maybe Sportspun or Robbie or Jared–whatever happened to that guy?–will be kind enough to recap it for you. Or maybe they won’t. Come back and find it!
