Red Sox Game 24 Recap: That’s another one. You had enough yet?

Highest WPA: Jake Peavy, .194 (7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 7 K, 2 BB, HR)
Lowest WPA: Shane Victorino, -.092 (1-6, 2B, K, GIDP, 2 LOB)

Mark Buehrle has had a really strong start to the season, but he’s still Mark Buehrle. And when a guy like Mark Buehrle doesn’t have his best stuff, he can get hit hard. Tonight, he didn’t have his best stuff, and he got hit. Hard. Buehrle was so off his game tonight that Jackie Bradley had not one but two extra-base hits. I don’t think I need to say any more than that.

While the offense was putting runs on the board, Jake Peavy was making sure they were unnecessary. I don’t know if you remember this–it was kind of under the radar–but the Red Sox acquired Peavy last season in a three-team deal that saw them give up Jose Iglesias. No, really. That happened. The Red Sox sent Jose Iglesias away, and because they did that they were given Jake Peavy. That is a thing that happened, just last year.

Clay Buchholz starts tomorrow. Given his previous history with the Jays, and the recent Pineda kerfuffle, it’ll be interesting to see if they want to engage in any silly gamesmanship and have him checked out.
