Red Sox Game 2 Recap: Victory!

Highest WPA: Mike Napoli, .268 (2-5, HR, 4 RBI)
Lowest WPA: AJ Pierzysnki, -.089 (How do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways…)

By now you should know that I can often be quite negative, even when things are going well. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I had some things to say about this game, and they weren’t entirely complementary. That having been said, a win is a win, and this was a win.

It was a good win, at that, all things considered. John Lackey made it seem like there might be a chance his 2013 wasn’t a complete fluke; David Ortiz and Mike Napoli both went deep; Dustin Pedroia had four hits; Koji Uehara was even kind enough to give the “closers can only pitch if it’s a SAVE SITUATION!!!!” losers some fodder without ever really putting the game in doubt. One day, probably soon, I’ll scream and rant about AJ Pierzynski and Will Middlebrooks, but not tonight. Tonight, we savor victory.
