Bruins Game 51 recap: Can you believe this is the first time they beat the Islanders this year?

I know. The Islanders might be awful but I guess that’s the way it goes sometimes. It took six goals and a little drama but the Bruins managed to pull out a win against the worst team in the worst division in the league tonight to win their third straight and pull back out in front of Tampa Bay. It wasn’t pretty though, the Isles managed to tie the game after each of the first three Boston goals and make it look like they were going to somehow “out-compete” the B’s again or something. The Bruins might’ve done some right pretty scoring but they never had a lead of more than a goal until the third, when Patrice Bergeron gave them their first insurance tally and Chad Johnson finally managed to keep the door shut for the rest of the game.

So that’s it. A sloppy but decisive victory over a bad team preceding a quick turnaround before the Bruins play another bad team at home tomorrow night in the Florida Panthers. The Islanders, meanwhile, are headed to Yankee Stadium to play the Rangers on Wednesday, if you feel like watching that. It should be noted that Tim Thomas is still a Panther and is not hurt right now, so if there’s still any novelty in seeing him in a different uniform you might as well tune in to watch that. Do it!
