Bruins Game 37: Bad goalie night.

What’s wrong with the Predators? Sure their starting goaltender, Pekka Rinne, has been out of action since October with a bacterial infection. But a quick glance at the team’s results this year seems to suggest that the team’s real problem lies with their offense. After all, you can’t win if you don’t score. So naturally things looked bad for them when the Bruins pulled ahead early on in the first period. After it became apparent that Carter Hutton just didn’t “have it” tonight, he was quickly replaced by Marek Mazanek, who temporarily stopped the leak.

But regrettably for whichever Nashville fans manage to slip in between the Bostonians jamming the stands, the comeback fell short in the third. Jarome Iginla had two goals tonight and continued to be an awesome free agent acquisition. Ryan Spooner demonstrated how well he is adjusting to the NHL level and pulled off a nifty move coming into the Nashville zone to set up Carl Soderberg. The Predators pretty much crumpled after the fourth Bruin goal and that was it for the competitive portion of the game, although Boston still had two more goals in them. Nashville didn’t find many answers tonight, unless the questions were “do you suck?” repeated endlessly…. man, I’m bad at sports cliches.

The Bruins are now off until Friday night due to the Christmas holiday. Then they’re back at it against Ottawa. Tune in, hockey will keep you warm.
