Red Sox Game 133 recap: Their lefty < Our lefty

Highest WPA: SHANF, .247 (3-3, 2 HR, 2B BB, HBP, 7 RBI, 4 R)
Lowest WPA: Jacoby Ellsbury, -.082 (3-5, 2B, K, LOB)
Highest BAC: Drake Britton, .09 (working on his seventh Mai Tai)

It’s amazing what a solid road trip and then a home thrashing of a divisional rival will do for your confidence. Just about every member of the offense contributed tonight, as the Sox got a homer from Mike Napoli and two from Shane Victorino (who should seriously NEVER HIT LEFTY AGAIN) to go with hard-hit balls up and down the lineup. Except when Will Middlebrooks came to bat, but, you know.

Felix Doubront didn’t look especially good, but he managed not to screw up all the run support that he was given. Certainly wasn’t for lack of trying, but…as with my complaints about Middlebrooks, pointing out that our #4 starter is only as good as your typical #4 starter feels like looking for something negative to say when really it has no place.

Yes, I did just say that there’s no point in being negative. Up is down, left is right, Ben Cherington’s smart, the Astros are good. And John Lackey going tomorrow is a sign of more good things to come. Maybe we are living in Bizarro World.
