Red Sox Game 100 preview: Waiting all day for Sunday night

Sadly, we (probably) won’t see Jenny Dell recreating the video.

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .305/.368/.427 (.347 wOBA)
2. RF Shane Victorino – .287/.335/.401 (.324)
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .313/.391/.430 (.360)
4. DH David Ortiz – .322/.404/.610 (.421)
5. 1B Mike Napoli – .257/.342/.443 (.343)
6. LF Jonny Gomes – .243/.332/.425 (.330)
7. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia – .259/.333/.441 (.336)
8. SS Stephen Drew – .231/.313/.406 (.313)
9. 3B Jose Iglesias – .360/.410/.452 (.379)

SP Ryan Dempster – 110.1 IP, 104 K, 50 BB, 20 HR; 4.24 ERA (101 ERA+)
4.97 FIP, 4.21 xFIP, 5.35 tERA, 4.18 SIERA

  • Brandon Snyder kept a job over Brock Holt because he’s righthanded, but Stephen Drew can start against a tough lefty.
  • Speaking of guys who shouldn’t face lefties, apparently Ryan Lavarnway died and nobody’s saying anything, because Salty’s in there when he really shouldn’t be.
  • At least Jonny Gomes is playing. (…is something nobody should ever have to say.)
  • Sweet Jesus look at Iglesias collapsing. Over his last 50 PA, his line is .200/.260/.200. I’m starting to wonder if he’ll even have a .300 batting average at the end of the season.
  • Of course, I’m not starting to wonder if he’ll be handed the starting shortstop job on a silver platter next season, despite the fact that Xander Bogaerts exists. That might as well be carved in stone right now.
