Red Sox Game 91 preview: Wait, WHAT?

West Coast slumps are never fun, and therefore I won’t be too broken up about missing most of this game due to watching and then talking about pro wrestling. Still, the lineup was just posted, so I should–wait, what?

1. CF Daniel Nava – .294/.378/.450 (.359 wOBA)
2. RF Jonny Gomes – .236/.333/.410 (.325)
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .321/.401/.439 (.367)
4. DH David Ortiz – .313/.399/.539 (.411)
5. 1B Mike Napoli – .257/.343/.436 (.339)
6. LF Mike Carp – .306/.366/.628 (.418)
7. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia – .268/.340/.460 (.347)
8. SS Jose Iglesias – .395/.446/.507 (.416)
9. 3B Brock Holt – .250/.333/.250 (.262)

SP Jon Lester – 114.1 IP, 93 K, 40 BB, 13 HR; 4.41 ERA (98 ERA+)
4.10 FIP, 3.96 xFIP, 4.58 tERA, 4.00 SIERA

I’m sorry, Miss Jenny (I am for real), but… what?

Sorry, one more time?

Okay…why? Like, I get that Shane Victorino is a Faberge egg, so of course he’s hurt. But, for as much as I applaud players for not playing through pain when their presence in the lineup would just hurt the team…Jacoby Ellsbury had better be sick or dead. On top of that, Jackie Bradley had better have fallen off the face of the Earth. This could get ugly.

In other news, Jose Iglesias’ batting average is now under .400 for the first time this season. We’ll check back in on him when it drops below .350, then again at .300, and so on.
