Red Sox Game 81 preview: WOOOOAHHHHH

We are, in fact, halfway there. And unlike last year, the Red Sox are doing a little bit more than just living on a prayer.

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .293/.357/.408 (.334 wOBA)
2. RF Shane Victorino – .298/.351/.399 (.331)
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .318/.397/.425 (.360)
4. DH David Ortiz – .319/.405/.620 (.425)
5. 1B Mike Carp – .321/.375/.670 (.438)
6. LF Daniel Nava – .281/.374/.446 (.356)
7. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia – .257/.323/.453 (.338)
8. SS Stephen Drew – .226/.309/.389 (.305)
9. 3B Jose Iglesias – .413/.469/.556 (.443)

SP Jon Lester – 100.1 IP, 83 K, 36 BB, 13 HR; 4.57 ERA (94 ERA+)
4.30 FIP, 4.00 xFIP, 4.74 tERA, 4.02 SIERA

You remember Mike Carp, right? He’s the guy we picked up for nothing this offseason that can apparently actually hit. He’s also the guy with the .391/.453/.783 batting line this month who can’t get in the lineup because the other corner outfielders are hitting just as well. (I was all set to make fun of Victorino for being shit again, but he’s actually had a good month when he isn’t finding the most dangerous part of the field and smashing his head into it.)

In other news, Jon Lester faces a good offense yet again today. I can’t wait for people to complain when he doesn’t match the performance John Lackey put up against the not-in-Coors-and-sans-Tulo Rockies last night.
