Stanley Cup Final Game #1 Recap: Triple-de-overtime, Double-de-flection.

I’m tired. So is pretty much anyone who watched that entire thing. The Bruins proved they could score against Chicago’s defense, and then blew a late lead. It happens. Even in the Finals. What was more unusual was the triple-overtime, the missed opportunities therin, and the million-bounce goal that found its way past Tuukka Rask, who ultimately reached a career high in saves for nothing.

A Hell of a contest to be sure, but the Bruins have naught to show for it and still need to win four games in order to hoist the cup. Now this shouldn’t be too much of a fright to B’s fans, because the Bruins lost the first two games of the 2011 Final and ultimately won in 7 by taking the very last game on the road. Still, the team worked hard and has nothing to show for it. Winning now will take just a little more effort on Boston’s part and gives a more-than-decent Blackhawks team the edge against them. Game 2 isn’t until Saturday night at eight, so sleep tight.
