Red Sox Game 66 recap: Nobody listens to me

Highest WPA: Mike Napoli, .160 (1-4, 2 K, 2 RBI)
Lowest WPA: Jon Lester, -.578 (4.2 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 3 K, 7 BB, 3 HR)

Well, that kinda sucked. Jon Lester’s still really good; he just picked a really bad night to have a really bad game. People will probably make some noise about his recent struggles–over his last five starts he’s now allowed 24 runs while walking 18 and surrendering six homers in 30 innings–but it’s worth pointing out that those starts came against four tough offenses and also the White Sox. He’ll be fine.

Alfredo Aceves, unfortunately, is not fine, and even more unfortunately he’s starting tomorrow. Jose De La Torre (who served admirably as a sponge for garbage innings tonight) will go away to make room for him, and he’ll have the entire bullpen behind him. This will provide little comfort when it’s 4-0 after the first inning.
