Red Sox Game 62 recap: You’ve ruined the game, Franklin

Highest WPA: Daniel Nava, .146 (3-5, RBI)
Lowest WPA: Franklin Morales, -.256 (2/3 IP, 2 H, 4 BB, 3 ER)

You know you’re having a bad day when Felix Doubront sits there thinking, “can’t this asshole throw strikes?” But hey, at least Doubront had yet another solid outing, this time exiting with less than a hundred pitches after six. Of course, in hindsight, we have to ask why John Farrell didn’t let him stay in, and instead chose A. to use his bullpen earlier than absolutely necessary in a double-header and B. not to use the good members of that bullpen in a very winnable game. And once it was clear that Morales was a mess, someone else needed to be brought in quickly.

But sure, just half-ass your way through a game with CJ Wilson looming in the nightcap (which will be viewable for fewer fans; thanks, Fox!). That can’t possibly backfire.
