Red Sox Game 57 preview: Playing ketchup

Is what the Red Sox will be doing after the Yankees beat them again today. I have puns, too, people!

1. LF Daniel Nava – .282/.390/.460 (.368 wOBA)
2. RF Mike Carp – .270/.313/.587 (.379)
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .336/.420/.452 (.382)
4. DH David Ortiz – .333/.400/.609 (.424)
5. 1B Mike Napoli – .261/.341/.483 (.356)
6. SS Stephen Drew – .211/.319/.359 (.301)
7. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia – .257/.333/.457 (.344)
8. 3B Jose Iglesias – .435/.460/.543 (.434)
9. CF Jackie Bradley, Jr. – .111/.256/.139 (.204)

SP Felix Doubront – 49.1 IP, 53 K, 26 BB, 5 HR; 5.29 ERA (84 ERA+)
3.87 FIP, 3.65 xFIP, 4.62 tERA, 3.85 SIERA

  • Just in case you were thinking that maybe, just maybe, Jose Iglesias had turned into a useful baseball player, I will point out his 9:1 K:BB ratio.
  • And his .526 BABIP.
  • And the fact that that BABIP comes with a 13.9% line drive rate (league average is 20.5%).
  • And yet, sadly, he isn’t even the worst hitter in the lineup. Maybe after today we’ll have to make a “Jose Iglesias is only walking because he has Jackie Bradley hitting behind him” tag.
