Red Sox Game 53 recap: Over the edge

Highest WPA: Ryan Dempster, .169 (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, HR)
Lowest WPA: Jonny Gomes, -.128 (0-4, 2 K)

Cliff Lee is pretty much the best. I’ve said this before, yes, but it bears repeating: Cliff Lee is awesome. I am immensely jealous of the Phillies fans who get to watch him pitch every fifth game, and I’m going to spend a good chunk of the summer dreaming of fantasy scenarios wherein they fall further out of contention and the Red Sox decide to actually use some of the payroll flexibility they opened up in the Soxpocalypse and by targeting guys like Victorino and Dempster instead of Nick Swisher or Anibal Sanchez. Ah, fantasies.
