Red Sox Game 47 preview: Please don’t get swept by the White Sox

Seriously, guys. They’re bad. Don’t let the bad team win all the games against you. That would be dumb.

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .242/.307/.335 (.286 wOBA)
2. LF Jonny Gomes – .183/.337/.305 (.294)
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .333/.420/.428 (.375)
4. DH David Ortiz – .349/.397/.632 (.432)
5. 1B Mike Napoli – .260/.333/.497 (.357)
6. RF Daniel Nava – .289/.385/.484 (.371)
7. 3B Will Middlebrooks – .208/.243/.423 (.285)
8. SS Stephen Drew – .225/.326/.387 (.313)
9. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia – .265/.346/.487 (.361)

SP Clay Buchholz – 65.2 IP, 69 K, 24 BB, 2 HR; 1.78 ERA (246 ERA+)
2.42 FIP, 3.10 xFIP, 3.07 tERA, 3.34 SIERA

Of course, continuing to insist on batting Jacoby Ellsbury leadoff is pretty dumb, too. Then again, so is starting Jarrod Saltalamacchia against a lefty. And not putting Shane Victorino on the DL despite the fact that he’s hurt and garbage. So maybe it’s just “be dumb” week for the Red Sox. That doesn’t sound like a particularly enjoyable week, but then again nobody traded a Major League-caliber player for me so my opinion must not mean much.
