Red Sox Game 44 recap: Blame it on the… … um…

Highest WPA: John Lackey, .278 (6 IP, 1 H, 5 K, R)
Lowest WPA: Pedro Ciriaco, -.103 (0-4; also an error and probably an end to Chris Parmalee’s chances of reproducing)

John Lackey-bashing Excuse Bingo:

  • BABIP luck
  • It’s only the Twins
  • He only went 6 innings
  • He didn’t have to make a routine throw to second
  • Weather hurt Twins’ bats
  • No Willingham
  • Lavarnway can coach anyone to a dominant start

Shane Victorino Excessive Negativity Watch: A week after his injury, Shane played center field and got on base twice (in five appearances, with no extra bases, so let’s not schedule a parade yet) and didn’t cripple himself. Fluky one-day non-failure, or demonstration of why he didn’t go on DL, thus proving I am far too easily convinced to criticize Sox players when Goog starts whining? Keep watching!
