Red Sox Game 35 preview: Momentum

They say it’s only as good as your next day’s starting pitcher. Let’s hope so, because “Jon Lester’s starting” sounds a whole lot better than “We just lost 15 to eight.”

…wait, what? Not a happy camper.

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .270/.325/.378
2. RF Shane Victorino – .293/.353/.380
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .311/.405/.386
4. DH David Ortiz – .381/.412/.714
5. 1B Mike Napoli – .269/.329/.530
6. LF Daniel Nava – .284/.383/.505
7. 3B Will Middlebrooks – .192/.228/.375
8. SS Stephen Drew – .244/.326/.397
9. C David Ross – .237/.341/.579

SP John Lackey – 15.1 IP, 16 K, 6 BB, 2 HR; 3.52 ERA, 3.77 FIP, 3.21 xFIP

  • Victorino hit a legit homer yesterday, so I guess I have to stop ragging on his power for a while. He’s still shit against righties, so I still get to be mad that he’s batting second.
  • Good to see Middlebrooks and Ross right back in the lineup. It would be nicer if Middlebrooks started hitting; at least Adrian Beltre tore the cover off the ball when he wasn’t nearly killing people.
  • I don’t have a third bullet point, so I’ll just say that there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t sigh wistfully and pine for Adrian Beltre. (That is a slight exaggeration. But only slight.)
