Red Sox Game 33 preview: Something about Larry Bird

I think it’s time to confess that I’m secretly Bill Simmons.

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .277/.325/.390
2. RF Shane Victorino – .292/.362/.357
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .306/.403/.379
4. DH David Ortiz – .426/.458/.815
5. 1B Mike Napoli – .266/.324/.539
6. LF Jonny Gomes – .222/.391/.340
7. 3B Will Middlebrooks – .195/.232/.381
8. SS Stephen Drew – .225/.317/.394
9. C David Ross – .243/.349/.595

SP Ryan Dempster – 36 IP, 47 K, 17 BB, 5 HR; 3.00 ERA, 3.63 FIP, 3.19 xFIP

  • Sportspun and I played MLB ’13 The Show last night. My Shane Victorino sat on the bench, because Clay Buchholz was the starter, then pinch hit against Andrew Miller and laid down a suicide squeeze. His Shane Victorino started and went 0-4, including making the game’s final out. I thought that was funny.
  • So are we just all going to agree to not talk about how terrible Middlebrooks is hitting? Okay. I just wanted to know.
  • If throwing in the bullpen for a little bit means Ryan Dempster can’t get the Twins out, then I think we should just start keeping our pitchers hermetically sealed until it’s time for them to take the mound.
