Red Sox Game 27 preview: Buehrles gonna Buehrl

Remember when Mark Buehrle was good? What the fuck happened?

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .283/.336/.416
2. LF Jonny Gomes – .195/.353/.317
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .337/.444/.398
4. DH David Ortiz – .500/.513/.917
5. 1B Mike Napoli – .269/.321/.529
6. RF Daniel Nava – .289/.385/.500
7. 3B Will Middlebrooks – .194/.223/.418
8. SS Stephen Drew – .154/.267/.250
9. C David Ross – .241/.267/.552

SP Clay Buchholz – 37.2 IP, 39 K, 13 BB, 1 HR; 1.19 ERA, 2.33 FIP, 3.00 xFIP

We’re a month into the season, now, which means it’s time to accept the following truths:

  • Dustin Pedroia will never hit another home run, but he’s still awesome.
  • David Ortiz is the best hitter ever.
  • Will Middlebrooks  is garbage.
  • Clay Buchholz is an ace. No, a super-ace. A Verlandrian ace.

In other news, it’s been a week since Shane Victorino got hurt (again), and he still isn’t playing and still isn’t on the disabled list. I’m not exactly missing his .677 OPS or the way announcers all slobber over him, so he can stay away for all I care. I just wish the Sox would put him on the DL instead of going with a 24-man roster on the hope that maybe he only misses ten days instead of 15.
