Red Sox Game 25 recap: I love the Astros

The game was so in hand that Sportspun and I spent the last two innings arguing about Carl Crawford.

Highest WPA: John Lackey, .236 (6 IP, 5 H, ER, 4 K, 2 BB)
Lowest WPA: Jacoby Ellsbury, -.112 (0-4, K, but at least he fared better than the guy who walked in front of Jenny Dell’s shot and earned a death glare)

The Sox took care of business yet again, and now get an off day for travel before they take on the scuffling Blue Jays in Toronto. Lackey, like Doubront yesterday, looked pretty bad in the first inning but settled down when he remembered that he was facing a group of sub-replacement hitters and also Jose Altuve. That approach won’t work as well in their next starts, both against the Rangers in Arlington.

Also Mike Carp owns and Shane Victorino can just never come back and that would be sweet.
