Red Sox Game 18 preview: He’s here!

The closest thing to an actually redeemable baseball player from the terrible Soxpocalypse trade is finally here! For one start. And then he’s gone again.

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .282/.300/.436
2. RF Daniel Nava – .357/.463/.667
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .297/.408/.328
4. 1B Mike Napoli – .243/.284/.457
5. DH Jarrod Saltalamacchia – .205/.286/.477
6. 3B Will Middlebrooks – .190/.224/.413
7. LF Mike Carp – .571/.571/1.143
8. C David Ross – .176/.222/.353
9. SS Pedro Ciriaco – .182/.333/.273

SP Allen Webster10 IP, 12 K, 3 BB, 1 HR; 0.90 ERA, 3.30 FIP (AAA)

I guess it makes sense to take things easy with Ortiz. I’d like to see Salty playing first so that if we needed to we could move him behind the plate without losing the DH, but that’s a quibble. Really, if Allen Webster is decent, this lineup should be good enough to score some runs, and the entire good pen is available behind him. It just sucks that we’re still at the “wondering if what we got back is decent” phase (Rubby de la Rosa is sucking at AAA, by the way) while the Dodgers are getting contributions by players better than what the Red Sox are running out.
