Red Sox Game 17 preview: Let’s play two!

Normally I’m a union guy. But if the MLBPA has a problem with my “at least one doubleheader every Sunday” rule when I become commissioner, fuck ’em.

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .284/.303/.446
2. RF Daniel Nava – .342/.460/.684
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .300/.417/.333
4. DH David Ortiz – .500/.500/.500
5. 1B Mike Napoli – .254/.286/.478
6. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia – .225/.311/.525
7. 3B Will Middlebrooks – .186/.222/.424
8. SS Stephen Drew – .115/.233/.154
9. LF Jonny Gomes – .200/.412/.280

SP Ryan Dempster – 17 IP, 25 K, 8 BB, 3 HR; 2.65 ERA, 3.79 FIP, 2.65 xFIP

  • Ervin Santana: Not lefthanded. Jonny Gomes: Not on the bench. Mike Carp: Not playing. The Goog: Not happy.
  • I know that walks are good and teams who don’t walk are bad, but…having three guys in your lineup whose OBP is higher than their SLG is at least two too many, isn’t it? (Mike Carp’s OBP is .571, and his SLG is still higher!)
  • Dempster was really good his last time out. He was also facing the Rays, who make the NL Central look like a challenge.
