Red Sox Game 6 preview: KnuckleMania!!!

It’s the granddaddy of them all! Or something. I dunno.

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury – .261/.320/.391
2. RF Shane Victorino – .318/.375/.318
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia – .318/.400/.364
4. DH Mike Napoli – .130/.130/.261
5. 3B Will Middlebrooks – .200/.273/.400
6. 1B Daniel Nava – .429/.556/.571
7. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia – .273/.467/.364
8. LF Jackie Bradley, Jr. – .176/.364/.235
9. SS Jose Iglesias – .583/.615/.667

SP Jon Lester – 5 IP, 7 K, 2 BB, 0 HR; 3.60 ERA, 1.19 FIP, 2.72 xFIP

Bullet points!

  • Good to see that the actually intelligent “Bat Victorino low in the order against righties” plan has been scrapped.
  • Actually good to see Nava’s versatility used to get Napoli a half day off without killing the already weak lineup.
  • Watching Bradley’s OPS plummet is hilarious, and seeing him and Iglesias try to hit knuckleballs should be as well.
  • I’m not saying he will, but I’d be interested to see how long Ellsbury could keep up this (oh thank Heaven it’s) .711 OPS and have Red Sox fans think he might still get back to what he was in 2011. I’m thinking it’s anywhere between two months and four years, depending on which team gives him a big stupid contract.
