Bruins Game 25 Recap: The worst three-goal win ever.

Maybe its natural to feel a little antsy when the Bruins have trouble putting away a team like the Panthers. Florida is beaten up and has a bad record this year, and the Bruins are healthy for the most part and one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. So when the Bruins went up by two in the first and then spent most of the second period looking as if they were prepared to give it all back, the fans in the stands might have had a little reason to be worried.

If you wanted to, maybe you could make the case that the Bruins only could have pulled this out against a team as injured and generally incompetent as the Florida Panthers. After all, Florida really did seem to win the second period on everything but the scoreboard, and heading into the third, everyone who follows the team has to be aware that they’ve had some real issues finishing this year. But the Panthers were held off by Tuukka Rask, and Shawn Thornton managed to add an insurance goal for the Bruins which seemed to wipe out Florida’s momentum and gave  Boston the win. An empty-net goal by Patrice Bergeron sealed things and sent the fans home happy, but for the Bruins it was an ugly night, at least for a while.

Next up, the B’s take on the Capitals at home on Saturday afternoon. It was an ugly loss in DC for Boston the last time the two teams met, a game that could be pointed to as a shining example of the difficulty the Bruins have had closing things out in recent weeks. Will the Bruins get revenge? Tune in and find out!
