Bruins Game 16 Recap: Islanders bad.

After Sunday’s game I promised an easy time for the Bruins against the Islanders in front of a friendly crowd. That’s almost exactly what happened tonight outside of a sloppy first period and a slightly more hostile than expected audience that still contained plenty of Bruins fans. Boston got a lead in the 1st period, which has been a theme on this road trip. Then New York tied it during what was a somewhat sloppy second half of the period. The Bruins quickly took it back early in the second when a shot deflected off of an Islander and bounced right to Brad Marchand, who put it into the net.

After retaking the lead, Boston was in control for the rest of the night. David Krejci gave the team some insurance after teaming with Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton for a very pretty passing sequence that resulted in the third Bruins goal. Tuukka Rask held back the Islanders’ offense from there, and Gregory Campbell added an empty-net goal at the end of the 3rd to finish things up for good. The Islanders currently hold the worst home record in the NHL, with only two wins in ten games. After a two-week trip, the Bruins finally head home to face Ottawa on Thursday.  The ugly start to the trip appears to be far-off now, and the Bruins should probably make the  best of the chance to stay in one place for a while.
