Yankees/Orioles ALDS Game 5 Recap: No more Orioles puns.

Highest WPA: CC Sabathia, .521
Lowest WPA: Robinson Cano, -.059

After all was said and done, a fine season for the Orioles. While Jason Hammel and several relievers pitched the best they could, in the end CC Sabathia pitched much the same way that Justin Verlander did the night before and put New York into the ALCS for the first time since who-gives-a-fuck. Sabathia gave the Orioles their best chance in the 8th inning when he loaded the bases with one out and allowed Baltimore’s only run to score, but then squeaked out of it and managed to finish the 9th inning for a complete-game victory. A tense situation arose in the 6th when Nate McClouth hit a foul ball that barely missed the right-field foul pole and prompted an argument. The call eventually stood and replays showed that it probably didn’t make contact with the pole or go fair at any point. Those were the only real chances the O’s had to put runs on the board all night, and that was the end of a fairly improbable Orioles season. Goodnight, sweet princes.
