Yankees/Orioles ALDS Game 2 Recap: The game of yesterday, today!

Highest WPA: Brian Matusz, .188
Lowest WPAS: Jim Thome and Manny Machado, -.078

I said that yesterday’s Yanks/O’s game played out like the sort of game that Baltimore could’ve stolen if Jim Johnson had held the score in the 9th inning. Well, tonight’s game was pretty much the same except Baltimore swiped a lead and managed to hold it. Johnson was much better this time around, and the Orioles won to tie the series at a game apiece. Andy Pettite was very good for the Yankees, while Baltimore starter Wei-Yin Chen got into some early trouble but managed to hold the fort throughout the night. Baltimore’s runs came on a Chris Davis single in the third and a Mark Reynolds single in the 6th. The Yankees took an early lead in the 1st inning and scored a single run to chase Chen in the 7th, but they never scored after that, making the Orioles winners for the first time. Things head to Yankee Stadium now, were New York finally gets to play a home game despite having “home field advantage” for this series.
