Game 158 Recap: At least they didn’t lose…. bad?

Highest WPA: Jarrod Saltalamacchia, .92

What can you say when “at least it wasn’t an embarrassing loss” is a positive? An heroic effort by Felix Doubront in what is probably (let me check) his last start of the year was not enough for the Red Sox tonight. Manny Machado hit a 7th-inning home run to put the O’s on top and Baltimore won yet another one-run game, as has become their specialty this year. The Orioles are now currently tied with the Yankees atop the AL East, as everyone in the entire park seemed well aware of. The Red Sox have one last shot at ruining Baltimore’s year before they move on to attempting to ruin the Yankees’ year instead. Tune in at 1:35 Sunday afternoon for more bitterness! Or, you know, don’t. Larry Lucchino would appreciate it so much if you did.
