Game 149 Recap: Raze the Rays.

Highest WPA: Pedro Ciriaco, .203
Lowest WPA: Dustin Pedroia, -.089

The Mariners and Orioles are playing as I type this. Like, woah man.

Anyway, the Red Sox won despite a shaky start by Felix Doubront. Some pitches that probably weren’t strikes anyway upset him, and he responded by walking three batters and letting them all score before the inning ended. The Rays pitching staff would not be denied though, as Jeremy Helickson only lasted into the fifth inning and Wade Davis gave up three runs in the seventh to put the Sox permanently on top. After being forced to warm up repeatedly throughout the early innings, Clayton Mortenson was shockingly bad, and managed to turn it back into a game again. That didn’t matter though, as the still surprisingly-good Red Sox bullpen shut the Rays down for the final innings and put them even farther out of the playoff hunt. Tomorrow the Red Sox continue their quest to ruin someone else’s season for once. Will they be successful? Tune in to find out!
