Our designated hitter, whose sole purpose is to hit, is batting 9th. That should tell you enough about the current state of the Red Sox offense. Our current starting pitcher wasn’t supposed to even be in the rotation at the start of the year but ended up being terrible anyway. That should tell you enough about the current state of the Red Sox pitching staff. Still, Felix has struck out more than a batter an inning, so there’s that. It’s too bad he usually has an astronomical pitch count. He’s young though, so maybe things’ll pick up.

The Jays are the only team in the AL East that have managed to be worse than the Red Sox. Things were so bad for them this season that they actually considered Jamie Moyer for their rotation. It didn’t happen though. Henderson Alvarez has been pretty bad lately, putting up a 6.56 ERA since the All-Star Break and seldom making it past the 5th. If there’s any offense to do it against though, it’s Boston’s. Jose Bautista is injured, but tune in anyway! What are you going to do on a Friday night, have a life?
