Game 133 Preview: Are we making a cheap attempt to get @BMcCarthy32’s attention? You bet your ass we are!

1. Scott Podsednik, LF

5. James Loney, 1B
6. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C

SP: Aaron Cook, 4,76 ERA, 11 K, 12 BB

In 68 innings, Aaron Cook has struck out 11 batters. That takes talent, kids.

The somewhat surprising Oakland A’s are sitting atop the AL Wild Card standings, tied with the Baltimore Orioles and a game and a half ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays. The A’s are only four behind the West-leading Texas Rangers, but with a month remaining a Wild Card spot is probably the most realistic shot they have for reaching the postseason. Oakland is on a six-game winning streak, owing to a four-game sweep in Cleveland this week and two wins at Tampa. As has been the case in the last few years, Oakland’s strength is in their pitching staff.  On the mound for Oakland tonight is famed twitterer Brandon McCarthy, who has been excellent as usual when healthy this year.

Unlike they did against the Angels, the Red Sox have won one whole game against the Athletics in six tries this year. Will the seventh game be lucky? Or something? Stay tuned!

Goog edit: I’d just like to add that Brandon McCarthy is excellent all the time, healthy or not. He’s smart, funny, and just generally seems like the kind of person that you’d love to have on your baseball team. I guess what I’m saying is PLEASE BRANDON COME HERE WE NEED GOOD PITCHERS SO BAD AND THE MEDIA ISN’T A VICIOUS PACK OF DOGS AT ALL PLEEEEEEEASE.

You know, if you want to and the money’s good and you don’t mind playing for a sub-.500 team for three or four years.
