Game 117 Preview: Not learning from our mistakes.

Boston Red Sox Vs. Baltimore Orioles, 8/14/12

1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury
2. DH Pedro Ciriaco
3. 2B Dustin Pedroia
4. 1B Adrian Gonzalez
5. RF Cody Ross
6. C Ryan Lavarnway
7. LF Carl Crawford
8. SS Mike Aviles
9. 3B Danny Valencia

SP: Josh Beckett – 4.97 ERA, 116 IP, 88 SO. 33 BB

Once again an all-glove no-bat hitter is our DH, proving that Bobby Valentine is a moron who doesn’t understand “luck” or “lineup construction” and that in batting him second he truly has no clue. Oddly enough, I believe it was Earl Weaver who invented the “pitching, defense, and the three-run homer” strategy that the Red Sox themselves followed up until this year when they decided to blow the whole front office up and go with terrible “baseball people” like Bobby Valentine who manage like a drunken WEEI caller. It’s one game though, so they could still pull this one out through some good luck. Not that anyone in management recognizes what “good luck” means during a single baseball game out of a 162-game season.
