Game 108 preview: Oh my God, Nick Punto’s alive!

That’s…good, I guess.

1. Jacoby Ellsbury CF – .259/.322/.352
1. Ryan Kalish CF – .212/.243/.242
2. Carl Crawford LF – .254/.302/.458
3. Dustin Pedroia 2B – .264/.319/.402
4. Adrian Gonzalez 1B – .302/.346/.445
5. Cody Ross RF – .265/.337/.518
6. Jarrod Saltalamacchia DH – .233/.288/.502
7. Mike Aviles SS – .255/.279/.396
8. Kelly Shoppach C – .264/.348/.504
9. Nick Punto 3B – .210/.315/.286

SP Clay Buchholz – 115.2 IP, 77 K, 41 BB, 16 HR, 4.75 ERA, 4.88 FIP, 4.58 xFIP

I suppose Shoppach being in the lineup against a righty at all counts as progress (.897 OPS against them this year, since you asked). The continued presence of Salty and especially Aviles is annoying, but I suppose that’s something I’m just going to have to deal with for the rest of this pointless season.

EDIT: Jacoby Ellsbury was in the original starting lineup, but has been pulled with a leg issue. That’s wonderful. What’s even MORE wonderful is that Ryan Kalish, he of the .485 OPS, will be taking his place, and batting first. Next time someone tells you that they think the Red Sox might have a shot at making the playoffs, remind them that Ryan fucking Kalish is apparently good enough to bat leadoff for this team.
