Game 97 recap: A good team effort

Everyone sucked. The end.

Highest WPA: Jarrod Saltalamacchia, .081
Lowest WPA: Felix Doubront, -.229

Just about everyone contributed to this loss. The starting pitching sucked, the offense sucked, and the bullpen sucked. It’s nice and inspiring to see the whole team come together, pull in the same direction, and easily achieve their goal. It’s a shame that goal wasn’t winning, but, you know, details.

By now you know that the Yankees traded for Ichiro. Seeing a hole in their outfield, they went out and got a guy who, while on the tail end of his career, is still a very nice asset to have. When the Red Sox had holes in their outfield, they went out and got Marlon Byrd and Scott Podsednik. It’s almost as if one team does what needs to be done to get better and win titles, and the other team would rather put band-aids on shotgun wounds, cry about getting under the luxury tax, and then buy soccer teams just for the Hell of it.

Almost.
