Game 88 recap: How much coffee you fellas gonna need today?

pee pee doo doo it is a loss

Highest WPA: Jacoby Ellsbury, .186
Lowest WPA: Pedro Ciriaco, -.288

Clay Buchholz pitched pretty well until he hit a wall in the seventh, and his replacement responded by walking in the tying run after an intentional walk. That’s tonight’s game in a nutshell. We had a bit of inconsistency from the home plate umpire, and eventually Pedro Ciriaco decided to demonstrate the meaning of the term “sample size” by botching a sacrifice and generally being awful.  The Sox actually had a lead thanks to a two-run homer to left by Will Middlebrooks and six good innings from Clay, but then things fell apart and the offense couldn’t recover.

On the plus side everyone looked healthy tonight. The theme of the rest of the month is going to be “recovery” as players return from the DL and hopefully aren’t still playing hurt. Maybe once everyone is back Pedro can play baseball the right way by doing it in Pawtucket.
