Game 84 recap: Good team beats bad team, film at eleven

Accurate depiction of the season, except the season doesn't have that spike at the beginning

I’m really glad I slept through the first two hours of this game. It’s a shame the rest of the team did, too. Then again, when Pedro Ciriaco is hitting second, Mauro Gomez is hitting fifth, and Kelly Shoppach is still hitting eighth, there are only so many things you can expect the offense to do.

This season feels like someone set it up in Baseball Mogul then hit “simulate until end,” but didn’t really spend that much time fiddling with the settings. So the computer manager only puts players on the 15-day DL if they’re actually going to be out 15 days, plugs players into essentially random lineup spots, and does things like using the long reliever as both a long reliever and a starter, causing him to wear down and ultimately give up four homers in less than four innings to the Yankees.

Negativity overload week continues tonight, when the Yankees beat the crap out of the Red Sox again, this time on Fox. And then tomorrow night on ESPN. Because if there’s one thing worse than watching the Yankees beat the Red Sox, it’s watching the Yankees beat the Red Sox on national television. Why can’t I hit “simulate until end?”
